Emerald Construction: Fibertite at WTVR TV

Project: WTVR Channel 6
Location: Richmond, Virginia
General Contractor: Emerald Construction Company
Roofing Contractor: N.W. Martin & Brothers, Inc.

Description: The project consisted of the removal and replacement of the roof
over the studio, news rooms, lottery and office area at Channel 6. The concern of the roofing material was that it be durable to handle the weight of the dishes and
the constant foot traffic related to the maintenance and calibration of the dishes.

FiberTite is uniquely manufactured by Seaman Corporation with vertically integrated manufacturing and product quality control for demanding projects like WTVR. The FiberTite reinforcement is a fabric of extremely high strength which provides a far superior resistance to puncture, tears, abrasion, and roof traffic than other roofing membranes. FiberTite is coated, not laminated. The KEE coating provides exceptional chemical resistance and proven long term weathering resistance to high UV exposure. FiberTite meets UL and FM requirements, is resistant to microbiological attack, made with thermoplastic material, and provides energy savings due to reflecting qualities of the light color. Seams are hot-air welded and accordingly, are stronger than the membrane itself.
